No picture today, only thoughts…

Sometimes there’s nothing I look forward to less than sitting down to the proverbial ‘blank canvas.’ Often the task at hand is as simple as trying to come up with ‘appropriate’ subject matter for the snapshot of the day… but mostly I’m referring to those times when I have to put aside whatever task I’ve been consumed with most recently and tackle some new project that has yet to be clearly defined – the ones that I know will and can only evolve after a great deal of work goes into molding said project into some tangible form that can be presented, critiqued and debated. Usually these are projects that require some sort of mysterious technical skills that I’m not even sure I possess. I walk away thinking “How am I going to build that?

As frustrating as this scenario can be, I have to admit I get an almost perverse thrill from diving into the unknown… I usually come out the other side having learned a lot about something I knew very little of before, and that can be very rewarding.
