I’m a believer in ‘signs.’ No, not the ones that say “STOP,” or “NO SMOKING,” or “DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS.”
I’m talking about signs that are incidents that happen to us or around us that point us in a specific direction and reinforce that direction in some way, shape, or form. These signs or symbols in our lives are sometimes overlooked, but they are there for the guidance; you just have to be aware and open to them.
Here’s an example. A little over 3 months ago, we began the journey of finding the right manufacturer for Crowned Heads. In one particular instance, Mike Conder and I hopped a plane to meet a potential manufacturer (who shall remain nameless) and discuss the possibility of his factory producing cigars for Crowned Heads. We arrived at the airport, got into our rental car, and drove straight to our meeting. Upon our arrival, there was a major traffic accident directly in front of the office where we were meeting. A car had apparently been going too fast, lost control, and jumped the curb, sheering off a fire hydrant before slamming into a street sign pole. There was glass, water, and debris everywhere…fire department, police, ambulance–the whole thing.
We walked into the meeting and were greeted at the door by our host and found out that this same sort of accident had happened before–ONCE before. The only other time it had happened was several years earlier. What were the odds this would happen on the day we were to meet to discuss business, literally minutes before our arrival? Hindsight is certainly 20/20; however, it could easily be said that the wreck was a sign of things to come (note: this manufacturer will not be producing our cigars).
Fast forward to today, and as I type this blog we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of blend samples from a different manufacturer (who also shall remain nameless–for the moment). Where is the sign in that factoid? Well…..
Cigar Aficionado’s Dave Savona broke the announcement of the formation of Crowned Heads on February 22–exactly FOUR months ago to this day.
Crowned Heads is comprised of Mike Conder, Michael Trebing, Nancy Heathman, and yours truly–FOUR people.
The package of samples that are expected to arrive at CH HQ any minute contains (wait for it…wait for it….)–FOUR different blends.
While there isn’t much information I’m able to divulge about the forthcoming CH brand, I can tell you this–it will launch with FOUR sizes.
CH is headquartered in a building that is one-hundred-and-FOUR years old…and we are in Suite 2-0-FOUR.
And just trust me on this one….there will be one more (very important) sign that pertains to our first brand that will come full circle back to the theme of FOUR.
So the next time an “incident” occurs in your day, pay attention–the signs just may point towards a FOURgone conclusion.
Its a four-gone conclusion then, that we’ll love these cigars!!
It’s funny you mention “four” because we have been patiently waiting ” for” your cigars! Lol great blog as always, thanks for keeping us in the loop! Looking “for”ward to trying them soon!
You guys are doing this the right way. I can’t wait to smoke all four of your blends when they come out. Be patient, don’t rush, you only have once chance to make a first impression!
Please send us FOUR! Glad things are moving along, waiting patiently in Michigan.

Prohibition 333 Cigars
Note- I will have to share the 333 story with you one day.
Thank you all for the positive feedback and support.
We really do appreciate all of you who’ve stood behind Crowned Heads from the start and we thank you for your continued interest, patience, and encouragement.
Life is sweet but brief–love your family, be grateful for your blessings, and Smoke Something GOOD!
Maybe you should stick with the Four theme and call your first product launch “FOUR”, or include a “4” on your product that makes people guess like the “33” on Rolling Rock.
